Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a common complementary therapy that can help people manage many different conditions. It works on the cause of the deasease’s condition, not just the symptoms. It’s a holistic therapy, linking body, mind and emotions.

Acupuncture is based on the principle of balancing the flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”), the vital life energy that circulates through pathways called meridians in the body. By stimulating specific acupuncture points, this practice aims to restore harmony, enhance the body’s natural healing processes, and improve overall health.

Acupuncture Benefits

The benefit of acupuncture is that people can effectively combine acupuncture with other treatments and that it is a flexible form of treatment that can target numerous health concerns at once.

Acupuncture is used mainly to relieve discomfort associated with a variety of diseases and conditions, including:

  • Lower back pain.
  • Neck pain.
  • Osteoarthritis.
  • Fibromyalgia.

Acupuncture is generally considered to be safe for most people and it carries a low risk of side effects. However, it can cause side effects such as bleeding, bruising or infection, in
which case our therapist will assist or explain to you how to deal with them.

Typically, the needles will stay in place for 20–60 minutes, although this will vary depending on the procedure. Acupuncture does not usually hurt. During acupuncture you may feel a mild tingling, warmth, soreness or numbness in the
area.

You may feel calm and relaxed afterwards.
